Many parents wonder if it is important for children to wear sunglasses. Put simply, it is vital! Sunglasses are as important as sunscreen. Children spend long periods of time in the sun and levels of ultraviolet light are particularly high during the summer vacation period. The potential UV damage is cumulative and irreversible so damage done during childhood could show up as serious eye damage in later life. There are problems, however.

Many Kids Don’t Like Wearing Glasses
Sometimes kids think glasses make them look “nerdy”. You can change their thinking by pointing out top athletes and entertainment stars who wear them and by showing them how much better they can with them on.. Also, you can get lighter polycarbonate lenses for them. Ours are of the highest quality so you still get optimal protection for this type of lens.

Many Children’s Sunglasses are of Very Poor Quality
This is true and poor quality sunglasses can be worse than no sunglasses. We take pediatric eye care very seriously (we’re parents ourselves) so we always have frames available to fit small faces. Just ask our customer service reps to point them out. Good quality glasses aren’t cheap but our warranty (the best in the business), helps protect your investment and even if your child should damage their glasses, we will repair them at a nominal cost.

Kids Lose Things
Yup, they do! That’s why we sell cords that can keep the glasses attached to their fast moving bodies! We also provide a case with each pair.

They Don’t Understand the Importance of Wearing Them
Here’s where you get to earn your stripes as a parent. Teach them about glare uv light, and the potential dangers. You will be doing something that will benefit them for their entire life.
